SHAS FOR SHIDUCHIM

2019-05-22T16:37:56+00:00 May 22nd, 2019|Extra Curricular, News|

Tu Bishvat saw our bachurim in Chicago participating in the much anticipated and  inspirational Shas for Shidduchim event.  Besides for joining hundreds of other participants in completing Shas in 24 hours and shteiging to the thunderous sound of kol Torah (the Yeshiva undertook to complete 40 blatt in Maseches Kidushin), the boys had the opportunity to hear divrei chizuk from Harav Zucker at the Chicago Community Kollel. In addition, our 10th graders delivered their own chaburos to members of  R’ Mandel’s kollel, as they have already  done several times this year (most recently, this past Thursday).  The sugyos they presented spanned various sugyos in the first perek of Seder Kiddushin, and they prepared these Chaburos with their Rebbi, R’ Frankel, during the days preceding their trip.  The event culminated with a special banquet and siyum which featured a talk by Harav Yaakov Bender on being nosei beol im chaveiro; feeling the joy and pain of other people.  He emphasized the concept of Torah learning not only being personal, but also as a zechus for the general klal, especially as it pertains to those in need of a shidduch.  We felt privileged to have a chance to feel connected to the larger klal and contribute in such a meaningful and memorable way.

OPEN HOUSE

2019-05-22T16:35:04+00:00 May 22nd, 2019|News|

On Motzei Shabbos Parshas Bo, eight prospective talmidim from Chicago arrived at our Yeshiva where they were treated to a melave malka and enjoyed a kumzitz with our boys.  Following Shacharis on Sunday morning, the guests joined us for breakfast and a tour of the Yeshiva.  Then the boys prepared with chavrusos, and attended a special shiur from R’ Shalom Fleisher. The day continued with an exciting recreational activity and culminated with a hot fleishig lunch, dvar Torah, and mincha.  This open house was a wonderful opportunity for our talmidim to play host to potential future bochurim, and for the Chicagoans to get a taste of the special goings-on at the Yeshiva. Several of these bochurim are already enrolled in our Yeshiva for the upcoming year, and we are excited to continue this special relationship with the Chicago community.

MESSAGE FROM MENAHEL

2019-05-22T16:28:40+00:00 May 22nd, 2019|News|

As we are now well into our second year, I pause to reflect upon the great Siyata D’shmaya that we have experienced so far. This year, our Talmidim have been working very hard to learn, retain and gain a deep understanding of the yesodos in Maseches Kiddushin. Most recently, we launched an extensive Chazara program which encouraged talmidim to review their what they learned in seder iyun, followed by farhers given by myself and Rabbi Shraga Lerman. We were both extremely impressed, not only by the talmidim’s understanding of the material, but also from their hislahavus and gishmak in learning.

Ultimately, the heart of our yeshiva is the learning that goes on within its walls. This is evidenced by the kol Torah of talmidim deeply immersed in Tosafos, the many blatt of shakla v’tarya recited, the strong attendance and involvement in Rabbi Kenzer’s bekius shiur, father-son learning on Wednesday nights… and the list goes on. The existence of our Yeshiva and the great chizuk we receive from the community is a powerful reminder that the very soul of Klal Yisrael revolves around Limud Hatorah. As the Torah promises us in Parshas Vayeilech כי לא תשכח מפי זרעו, the Torah will never be forgotten from the mouths of Klal Yisrael.

55 Chavrusos. 55 Blatt. 55 Thousand Dollars. 1 Kiddush Hashem.

Rabbi Yari’s Visit

2017-11-21T16:30:37+00:00 November 21st, 2017|News|

On Shabbos Parshas Chayei Sara, we were privileged to hear Divrei Chizuk from Rabbi Mordechai “Yari” Yaroslawitz of St. Louis, who was in South Bend for a family simcha. He spoke passionately about the concept of , הבא להיטהר מסייעין אותו, one who takes the first step receives special help from Hashem to succeed. Rabbi Yari’s annual Kulanu Yachad Shabbaton attracts well over one thousand college students, and his great efforts for the sake of Klal Yisrael serve as a living example of the powerful words that he conveyed to us. In addition, he emphasized the important
role, as well as the great opportunity, that each Talmid has. We very much appreciate his warm words and wish him much hatzlacha in this year’s Shabbaton.
